The Auto Shopper Newspaper Ad is a classified ad that runs in your local Auto Shopper Magazine which prints each Friday morning.

Cardizzy.com Online Ad

The Cardizzy.com website offers a premier automobile buying and selling experience. Your online ad may contain one or more photos and more text than the print ads mentioned above.

How do I get started? The first step to selling your auto is to gather the information listed below:

Required Information

1. Vehicle year, make, and model. For example: 2004 Chevrolet Impala
   
   
2. Vehicle Mileage. The total number of miles the automobile has been driven.

The Ad Process

Creating the ad on cardizzy.com is simple, just follow these steps:

1. Gather the required information (as shown above).
   
   
2. Log-in or register to the site.
   
   
3. Enter vehicle information such as make, model, color, engine size, and features.
   
   
4. Add your digital photos if included as part of the Ad Package.
   
   
5. Preview your print & online ads
   
   
6. Purchase your Ad Package.
   
   

Log-in or register to the site.

To place ads on cardizzy.com you will need to register for an account. Once you have registered for an account, you can place, manage and purchase your ads and update your profile and contact information.

Register

Follow the steps below to register for a new account on cardizzy.com:

1. Start by clicking the big red "Sell" button in the upper-right corner or on the main menu beneath the page header.
   
   
2. Click the "New User" button. On the following page you will be asked if you are a new user or a registered user. Start the account creation process by clicking on the "New User" button.
   
   
3. Complete the User Registration form and click on the blue "Register" button.
   
   
4. Complete your confirmation. Once you have submitted the form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email provided on the registration form. Follow the instructions to confirm your email and registration will be complete.
   
   

Login

If you are already a registered user, you can login to your account and begin placing ads. To login, follow these steps:

1. Click the big red "Sell" button in the upper-right corner or on the main menu beneath the page header.
   
   
2. Click the "Registered User" button.
   
   
3. Login using your username and password.
   
   

Create Your Ad

Once you have registered for a cardizzy.com user account, you can create an ad. Create as many as you like! There is no limit. Create them first and pay for them when you're ready. Just follow the steps below to create a new ad.

1. Add a new listing. After you've registered for an account and logged in, you will be taken to your home page where you can create new ads and review or renew existing ones. To get started click on the big green "Add New Listing" button.
   
   
2. Select a category for your listing (e.g. Automobile, Trucks/SUV's/4x4's, Vans). Choosing the correct category for your ad will make it easier for others to find and make the proper selections available to you later in the ad creation process.
   
   
3. Select the Year, Make and Model of your listing (or subcategory and item for your Swap Meet listing).
   
   
4. Enter a headline for your listing. Choose something interesting but not too gimmicky. Avoid all-caps and special characters.
   
   
5. Enter an asking price for your vehicle or item. As mentioned above, make sure it's reasonable. You may also enter terms just below the price field (e.g. OAC, OBO, Cash, Down). If you do select terms, make sure you are prepared to honor them. For example, don't select 'OBO' if you're not prepared to come down on the price.
   
   
6. Enter a brief description for your listing. This is the description that will appear in your Auto Shopper magazine ad and is limited to 175 characters.
   
   
7. Enter the long description for your listing. This is the description that will appear in your cardizzy.com online ad and is not limited. You can copy the information from your short description to the long description using the "Copy To" button, then expand on the information you provided in the short description.
   
   
8. Enter a phone number. You will need to provide a means for buyers to contact you to express their interest in your listing. You may also add an alternate phone number and contact name.
   
   

Add Photos

You may choose to add photos if the package you selected allows for them. Added photos must be of the vehicle described in the ad and must be available to upload from your computer or digital camera.

1. Click on the "Upload" button to begin. A window will pop up allowing you to browse for your image. You will only be allowed to upload as many images as your ad package allows. The images must be in .jpg or .png format and they can not be larger than 5 MB.
   
   
2. Repeat until all photos have been added.
   
   
3. Start upload after all your files have been queued by clicking on the green "Start Upload" button.
   
   
4. Manage your photos
   
   
   
   
   • Preview your photo by looking at the thumbnail image to the far left.
     
     
   • Add a title for your image (optional).
     
     
   • Add a description for your image (Optional).
     
     
   • Re-order your images. Note that the top image (1) will be the default image for your listing.
     
     
   • Delete unwanted images using the red "Delete" button.
     
     

Preview Your Ad

The cardizzy.com website comes with options that enable you to preview what your ad will look like both online and in the magazine.

Preview Magazine Ad

To preview the magazine ad, click on the yellow "Magazine Preview" button. A new window will open giving you a preview of what your ad will look like in the magazine. You may also print your ad by clicking on the red "Print" button. When you're done previewing the ad, you can click on the red "Close" button to return to the Ad Form and continue editing or complete your ad.

NOTE: Previewing your ad does NOT save it! After you're done previewing your ad, you will still need to save your changes by clicking on either the "Save and Close," "Next," or "Save and Edit" buttons.

Preview Online Ad

To preview your online ad, click on the yellow "Magazine Preview" button. A new window will open displaying an approximation of how your ad will appear on cardizzy.com. When you're done previewing the ad, you can click on the red "Close" button to return to the Ad Form and continue editing or complete your ad.

NOTE: Previewing your ad does NOT save it! After you're done previewing your ad, you will still need to save your changes by clicking on either the "Save and Close," "Next," or "Save and Edit" buttons.

Purchase Your Ad

Once you are satisifed with the content of your ad, click on the green "Next" button on the ad form or the yellow "Buy Now" button from the "My Home Page" page to purchase the ad.

Choose an Ad Package

Review the purchasing options carefully and choose an ad package that bewst suits your needs by clicking the green "Buy Now" button associated with your ad package.

Checkout

The cardizzy.com website offers flexible payment options that include both PayPal and standard credit card checkout methods.

To checkout with PayPal, just click on the yellow "Pay Now" PayPal button.
NOTE: You will be redirected to PayPal's secure online checkout. When you have completed your purchase, you will be redirected back to the cardizzy.com website.

When checking out with your Visa, Master Card or American Express, be sure to enter the following information:

• Credit card type
• Cardholder name (as it appears on the card)
• Card number
• Card expiration date
• Card Security Code (verification digits)
• Billing address including city, state, and zip code

What can I do to make my vehicle more appealing to buyers?
The best way to make you auto more appealing is to clean it thoroughly inside and out, top off all fluids, and replace burned out lights. Adding features such as new CD players or lights may not be in your best interest just before selling your vehicle.

How long will it take to create my ads?
The time it takes to create your ad depends upon a few variables. The package you’ve selected, your internet connection speed, the number of photos you add, and the information you add to each step could potentially increase or decrease the amount of time it takes to place your ads. Gathering all the information before starting will save you time.

How will the buyers contact me?

That is up to you. You’ll have the option of adding a phone number and an email address so that buyers can contact you on your terms.

How do I protect my identity when providing contact information?
Although you must provide some contact information so that buyers can reach you, the contact information you provide is your choice. Consider using only your first name in the ads or possibly a common nickname. For a telephone number, consider using a cellular phone or a voicemail service instead of your home number. Although Cardizzy.com does not display your email address, you may decide to create an email address specifically for use with the ad at one of the many free email web sites.

Never provide sensitive personal information such as account numbers, birth dates, and Social Security Numbers. Be aware if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And never send money to make money or to claim a prize.

Does Cardizzy.com keep my email address hidden?
Yes. When a potential buyer views your online ad, cars.com provides him or her with a form to contact you by email. The form does not display your email address.

Can I sell more than one auto with the same ad?

You may sell one automobile per ad. Additional automobiles require separate ads.

How long will the ads run?
The ads will run for the duration stated in the package you select. (Either 2, 3, or 4 weeks)

What type of digital photos can I add?
You may add .bmp, .jpeg, .jpg, and .tiff images. Photos must be of the vehicle described in the ad and must be available to upload into your ad(s) from your computer or digital camera. A stock photo will be available for use with the cars.com ad only if you do not upload any photos and your ad package allows less than 4 photos. Once your ad is online, you can add the stock photo by following the instructions supplied in the Cardizzy.com confirmation email. The stock photo will not be available for the print ads.

I clicked on the Click to Add Photos link but nothing happened, why?
The Add Photos page is a popup page and popup blocker software might prevent the page from appearing. Please temporarily turn off any popup blocker software while creating your ads.

I clicked on a Preview Ad link but nothing happened, why?
The Preview Ad pages are popup pages and popup blocker software might prevent the page from appearing. Please temporarily turn off any popup blocker software while creating your ads.

What happened to my photos? I added several but do not see them in the ad.
Ad packages may include a limited number of photos. The application allows you to upload as many photos as you’d like so that you can see what each looks like online. However, if you upload more photos than your package allows, the computer will only take your primary photo and the next photos in the order you loaded them up to your package limit.

What is a primary photo?
Your primary photo is used in Auto Shopper Magazine, and Cardizzy.com online ads if included as part of your package. If your package allows for several photos in the online ad, the primary photo is the first and largest one shown. By default, the first photo you upload becomes the primary photo. You may change the primary photo by selecting the radio button next to the photo you want to be the primary.

When I go to the Create Auto Shopper Ad page, some of the features I checked in the Vehicle Features section didn’t show in the text box, why?
Auto Shopper Newspaper ads are limited by the number of lines or by the number of characters that will fit a specific amount of space. Therefore, the newspaper added the features you selected up to the limit of characters. You will be able to add the features you’d like to see in the ad if they didn’t show up automatically, and edit out anything you don’t want in the ad. Keep in mind that all features will be displayed in the online ad if you chose that package option.

I cannot paste text into the text boxes, why?
The application must count characters to prevent ads that won't fit into the printed media. To accomplish this, the application counts characters imported from the Details page and  those that are typed in. Pasting text in would prevent the application from making a correct count.

Is any information specific to the online ad?
Not exactly. The print ads can include any information you'd like to use for selling your automobile. However, the the online ad provides greater space to list features and describe your automobile. Therefore, the information you enter automatically populates your print ads and online ad differently. More of the information obviously goes to the online ad, especially the information required by cars.com for the ad to run on its site. Don't worry though, you can always edit the non-required text in the print and online ads until you feel they're perfect.

Can I extend the ads if my vehicle doesn’t sell right away?
Absolutely. Please login to your user page, find the ad, and go through the re-run process.

How do I remove my ad once I sell my car?
Absolutely. Please login to your user page, find the ad, and delete that ad.

When will my ad be printed or displayed online?
The online ad will begin immediately and you will receive an email from Cardizzy.com letting you know the ad has been posted. The start and end dates for each ad type you selected will appear on the receipt.

How do I change my ads?
Absolutely. Please login to your user page, find the ad, and go through the edit process.

Will I be able to edit my ads once I have placed them?
Absolutely. Please login to your user page, find the ad, and go through the edit process.

Why do I have to register for an account?
Registering with our site allows you to verify your identity should you need to contact us regarding your ad for any reason. You'll only have to register once.

How do I obtain a refund?
Please note, there are no refunds once your ad is placed and paid for.

How do I pay for the ad?
You may pay for your ad package with a major credit card or Paypal.

Do you store my credit card information?
No. We do not store credit card information.

Credit Card Security Code Help

The credit card security code is a 3 or 4 digit number designed to prevent unauthorized charges on your card. The security code, used in conjunction with the card number and expiration date, helps merchants verify the identity of the cardholder during telephone or Internet transactions.

How to locate your security code
For Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Diners Club: Look on the back of the card in the signature strip, the 3 digit number located on the far right is the security code.

For American Express:
Look on the front of the card, the 4 digit number on the front right for American Express and American Express Blue is the security code. American Express Optima also has the security number on the card front, but it is on the front left.
